Just spend one hour between Friday 28 and Sunday 30 January counting the birds, and help monitor how birds are faring. It’s free, fun, and a great way to keep an eye on your local wildlife. Wherever you are, whatever you see, it counts!

Most UK native birds are extremely beneficial for your garden and help keep pests down. At this time of year, it is important to keep your bird feeders clean and topped up! Please remember to clean your feeders each time you refill them as well to avoid spreading any diseases that can accumulate. Defrost your bird baths so they have access to clean water each day. Now is also a good time to hang up nesting boxes (outside the breeding season is best). According to research done by the RSPB we have lost over 38 million British birds from our skies over the last 50 years so it is vital we all do everything we can to promote good habitats and provide food for them.
