The Dunsfold and Hascombe Horticultural Society was formed in 1925 with the express aim of encouraging the love of gardening both for personal pleasure and good health. The Society has community at the heart of its ethos and welcomes anyone in Dunsfold, Hascombe and the surrounding area that has a shared interest in gardening and wishes to learn more about good practice whether it be for ornamental gardens or growing vegetables and fruit for the family. All are welcome.
WHAT WE DO
Lectures & Workshops
During the year we host between 3-5 lectures with professional speakers on a wide range of topics including general horticultural practices and skills, the environment and climate change, local and international gardens of note and commercial gardening. These lectures generally last for 45-60 minutes and are followed by Q&A. In addition, we organise workshops on relevant topics, including floral arrangements and wreath making.
Please see Events for details of our upcoming lectures.
We hope to organise two horticultural shows a year: the Early Summer Show in June and the Main Show in early September. These are typically held in The Winn Hall at Dunsfold. We have a wide variety of classes for flowers, fruit and vegetables, cookery and home craft. There is always a children's section and we are keen to encourage young gardeners.
Please note that we will only be hosting the Main Show in September due to coronavirus restrictions.
Please see Shows for further details.
Over the summer months, we try to visit several gardens in Surrey or the surrounding counties. These outings give our members an opportunity to see notable gardens in the area, many of which are typically private and not open to the public.
Please see Events for details of any garden visits currently planned.
